I’ve been spending a fair amount of time at my computer lately. Which basically means that I have done the most minimal of get ready-ing this week, as possible. Jeans, t-shirts, slippers, no makeup, and barely a brush through my hair. During the day, I’ve been writing. A lot. More than I ever thought I could or would on a topic that I’m quickly learning is my passion. But this weekend, I think it’s time to get out of the house. You know it’s time when your husband specifically asks you, “When did you leave the house last?” and you reply with a serious straight face, “I don’t know.. maybe two or three days ago?” Sad news. I’ve been in a bit of a tunnel lately. A tunnel I like to be in.
This weekend, he’s forcing me out of the house. Something of which I’ll gladly oblige. Tonight, we’re going to have “game night.” Which I realize is completely cheesy, but if it’s not planned, then I will resort to the computer or staring at the TV watching movies all evening. I’ll be honest, we’re having game night alone. What? We’re married 20-something’s and aren’t hip and with it. I’m just keeping it real. I’m a grandma that doesn’t leave the house and would rather be knitting a hat on Friday night while baking cookies, while my husband would rather be reading books or “catching up on tech news.” Snooze. I know.
Tomorrow, we’re going to take a short little road trip… in the opposite direction of Seattle, because the news is calling it “one of the worst traffic weekends this year.” Something about President Obama coming to town mixed with road construction and yadda yadda. We’re going to do some lazy wandering around of the giant outlet stores about an hour from our home. It will be nice to just get out of the house if nothing else. When I was in college, and my husband was living where we are now, we would often meet there as a half way point on the weekends or even mid-week just to say hello for an hour or two. So every time we return, it’s a nice reminder that we made it out of that period of our relationship that we both desperately wish never happened.
What are you up to this weekend? Have any plans to peel away from work?
